Title I & LAP

Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is a state-funded program that provides additional support to eligible students, who need academic support for reading, writing, and math, or who need readiness skills to learn these core subjects. With special emphasis on reading literacy in the early grades, schools use their state LAP funds to deliver supplemental services that give these students the strong start they need for academic success.

The Title I, Part A program is a federally funded program designed to provide supplemental educational services for students who are at risk of failing to meet grade level standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.  We currently have three elementary schools that are Schoolwide Title Schools that offer customized instruction and curricula that help these students meet academic standards and take an active, engaged interest in what they learn and can do.  Title 1, is a program offered by ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) which was signed into law December 10, 2015.

Family Resources

Parents can influence the success of their student in school more than any teacher or federal program.  Research shows that how well students do in school depends a great deal upon how much their parents get involved in their education.  The Title I program supports our schools' Parent Involvement activities to expand on Parent Involvement.

Parent and Family Engagement

Each Schoolwide school has a parent involvement goal.  It is their responsibility to promote parent and family engagement within their Title 1, Part A programs.  Planned activities could include:

  • Events to encourage parents and family to participate in a variety of informational and training opportunities related to the education of their students.
  • Events where parents see their students educational growth and development
  • School related events/performances to enhance the student's learning experiences.
  • Title 1 Parent and Family Engagement Policy
