Tumwater School District offers Honors ELA courses beginning in the 8th grade. Starting with the 2019-2020 school year, Honors ELA courses will be open to all students.

Candidates considering Honors ELA should embrace hard work and critical thinking and thrive in a quick-paced learning environment. They should also love reading, writing, and communicating.

Taking Honors ELA at the 8th, 9th, and/or 10th grade levels will help prepare students who want to pursue Advanced Placement (AP) ELA courses in high school. However, Honors ELA is not a prerequisite for AP.

Please contact Christa Williamson or Jack Arend for more information.
