Dear Tumwater School District Families,

We are pleased to announce that this afternoon, Dr. Carole Meyer accepted the position to serve as the TSD Interim Superintendent for the 2022-23 school year. She was offered the job after the School Board interviewed several very qualified candidates. Once her contract is finalized and approved, she will serve in this role beginning July 1st and through the 2022-23 school year.

Dr. Meyer brings with her a wealth of administrative experience over the past 25 years as she has served in a variety of educational roles. Most recently, she has been serving as the Interim Superintendent for Moses Lake School District. Prior to her current role, Dr. Meyer served as an Assistant Superintendent in Moses Lake School District and principal at both the high school and middle school levels. Before her administrative career, she was an academic counselor and special education teacher. Dr. Meyer’s education includes a Doctor of Education degree and Superintendent Certificate from Washington State University, Teaching Certificate and Principal Certificate from Eastern Washington University, and Master of Education from Whitworth College.

School Board President Casey Taylor shares, “During her interview, it became clear that Dr. Meyer’s experience, knowledge, and accomplishments are a great fit during this transitional period to continue the work towards our district goals. We look forward to working with her and district stakeholders as we conduct a full superintendent search process in the near future for our next superintendent who will begin in July 2023.”

We are pleased to have Dr. Meyer join the wonderful Tumwater community as our Interim Superintendent for the 2022-23 school year.

Sincerely, The Tumwater School District School Board of Directors
