Interested in attending a School Board Meeting?

Effective March 2021 - Our School Board will be meeting in-person

Starting in March 2021, our school board is meeting in person and providing a Zoom link for those who can't attend in person. Although meetings are in person, we are still required to follow social distancing, mask and capacity requirements. 

The meetings will be held at the District Office at 621 Linwood Avenue, in the Board Room (with an overflow room if we meet capacity.)  If you plan to attend the Board meeting in person, please RSVP to becky.powell@tumwater.k12.wa.us or 360-709-7001 so that we are able to adequately prepare space to accommodate attendees and staff to assist.

The Zoom information for Public Comment will be updated approximately one week prior to each meeting. You will find instructions below on how you can watch/listen and/or submit public comment if you wish to address the Board.  The schedule of board meetings for the 20/21 school year can be found here.

To address the Board during Public Comment:

Tumwater School District Regular Board Meetings are open to the public and allow for members of the public to attend and sign up to address to Board on a topic that interests them.  Board Workshops and Retreats are not required to provide time for Public Comment.  In order to allow the Board to conduct its business and give the opportunity for others to present, there is a process around Public Comment, which are outlined below:

In-Person:

If you plan on attending a board meeting in person and addressing the Board during the meeting, you must sign up in advance.  Anyone wishing to address the Board must submit their name and topic to Becky Powell at becky.powell@tumwater.k12.wa.us between 8:00am and 6:00pm on the day of the meeting.  If we have not yet reached the 20-minute time-limit on your topic and you have provided the required information within the time-frame, you will be added to the list and be called on during the Public Comment portion of the meeting.   If you are unable to submit your name and topic via email by 6:00pm on the day of the meeting or we have reached the 20-minute time-limit on a given topic, you are welcome to submit your comment via email to Board members and/or the Superintendent or wait until the next scheduled meeting to sign-up to address the Board.  All district employees and Board members have the same email set up:  firstname.lastname@tumwater.k12.wa.us. 

Zoom:

Please note:  The same rules that apply during a public meeting held at one of our buildings, apply to the Zoom meeting in that the first speaker on a topic will receive 5 minutes and every additional speaker on that same topic will receive 3 minutes, for a total of 20 minutes on any one topic.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these very unusual circumstances and attempt to find ways to make these meetings work so the Board can continue to conduct necessary business while also making them accessible to the public.
