CHILDCARE

Tumwater Parks and Rec-Tumtastic:

  • They will offer before and after school care for MTS students only as there will be no transportation available for kids who attend other schools.
  • They will continue to operate out of MTS portable and offer all day care that supports remote learning to those that need it.
  • They will continue to offer scholarship applications to anyone interested in applying for financial support.

Y-Care:

  • They will continue to offer care out of the old PGS library for those TSD students needing care all day that supports remote learning.
  • There will be no transportation from the old PGS library to any other schools, so there will be no before-and-after school care offered at that location.
  • For staffing/financial reasons, they will NOT be offering before-school care at school locations.  This may change at some point, depending upon enrollment and whether or not it will work at individual schools based on restrictions due to COVID.
  • They would like to offer after-school care in the gymnasiums (or whatever space each school might have available.)
  • They will only offer after-school care on site if the school has 5 or more students asking to apply to that program and would communicate directly with the principal of that school if that situation occurs.
  • If a school does have 5+ kids wishing to enroll in after-school care, they are aware that they can only serve A kids on A days and B kids on B days and that they cannot use the on-site location at all on Wednesdays.
  • They will continue to offer financial assistance to families that qualify.

Boys & Girls Club:

  • They would like to continue to operate as they always have, offering before and after school care.  I am currently working with Jessie Trevino at the Tumwater Club and Jeff Gregory to identify which of their kids are As and Bs so that we can figure out the transportation piece (there are financial implications that B&GC may have concerns about, depending on the number of kids requesting transportation.)
  • They will continue to offer all day care that supports remote learning to those that need it.
  • They have been informed of the needs of THS with regard to the upcoming sports season and are working to begin utilizing the space that is available to them at the church across the street (if enrollment numbers require it.)
  • They will continue to offer financial assistance to families that qualify.
