    Michael T Simmons PTO in an all-volunteer organization, and a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit group. As per our bylaws, “The MTS PTO is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, more specifically to enrich the educational experience at Michael T Simmons Elementary School by fundraising, promoting educational activities for students, parent involvement in their children’s education, and social activities for families.” Our PTO was created to provide student enrichment, family involvement and support, and connections to our community. Michael T Simmons PTO looks forward to partnering with you to support our school and students!

    Each year we work to provide additional supplies, grants, educational programs, and community building events for our students and teachers. Our efforts are made possible through the generous donations from our families and community, as well as from all the hours donated by our volunteers!

    We’re always eager to find more great people, like you, to help us meet this goal.


     Meet your 2020-21 PTO BOARD

    EXECUTIVE BOARD:
    President: AVAILABLE (Carmel Lamolli - interim) 
    The President shall serve as leader and key contact for the PTO. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Organization and of the Executive Board, unless otherwise pre-arranged. The President shall coordinate the work of the officers of the Organization in order that the objectives may be promoted; and shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed in these bylaws or assigned by the Organization or by the Executive Board.

    Co-President: AVAILABLE

    The Co-President shall attend monthly meetings of the Organization, shall act as an aide to the President, perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve, assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board, coordinate the general activities of any Special Committees created by the Executive Board. Ideally – is willing to serve as President in the future.

    Secretary: Chelsea Grunenfelder

    The Secretary shall attend monthly meetings of the Organization, shall record the minutes of all meetings of the association and of the board, shall have a current copy of the bylaws, and shall perform such other duties as may be delegated by the Executive Board or Co-Presidents.                                                

    Treasurer: AVAILABLE (Carmel Lamolli - interim) 

    The Treasurer shall attend monthly meetings of the Organization, shall have responsibility for all funds of the Organization; shall keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures; and in accordance with the budget adopted by the Organization shall make disbursements as authorized by the Co-Presidents, Board, or at every meeting of the Organization and at other times as requested by the Executive Board. The Treasurer shall approve routine bills within the limits of the budget. The Treasurer’s accounts may be examined annually by an auditor or an auditing committee member, who, satisfied that the annual report is correct, shall sign a statement of fact at the end of the report.

    Fundraising Chair: AVAILABLE

    The Fundraising Chairperson is responsible for the oversight of all major fundraising efforts of the Organization. The chairperson shall thoroughly investigate companies offering perspective sales programs; shall limit the number of student sales programs each year; schedule fundraising events, collect and distribute monies and sales items, and provide a final report to the Executive Board. The chairperson shall also train volunteers to assist in collecting monies, balancing accounts, and distribution of fundraising items.                  

    Communications Chair: AVAILABLE (Carmel Lamolli - interim) 

    The Communication Chairperson is responsible for overseeing all communications on behalf of the Organization. The chairperson shall actively update social media pages, website, bulletin boards, newsletter submissions, and printed materials for distribution.

    Events Chair: AVAILABLE
     

    The Events Chairperson is responsible for the oversight of all major events on the behalf of the Organization. The chairperson shall form and oversee volunteer committees responsible for planning, preparing, hosting the Organizations events; shall maintain spending within the approved budget; shall work collaboratively with the Communications Chair for event promotion.

    Hospitality Chair: AVAILABLE  
     
     
    The Hospitality Chairperson shall coordinate any hospitality activities as required by the Organization, including welcome program and documentation for new families and kindergarten families.  Responsible for purchasing and mailing all thank you, get well, sympathy and birthday cards for MTS Staff, Volunteers, and PTO Board Members and for sending flowers or gifts as approved by the PTO Board in the event of birth, wedding or death.
