Education/Teaching Background: Kathleen Alviar is a graduate (Magna Cum Laude) of Eastern Washington University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education in 1996. She has taught choral music for sixteen years, and is currently the director of choral music at Black Hills High School and Tumwater Middle School and serves as the Tumwater School District Music Coordinator. Prior to teaching in Tumwater, Kathleen was the director of choral music at Hermiston High School, in Hermiston, OR. Additionally, she directed the adult and children’s choirs at Lincoln Heights United Church of Christ in Spokane and a men’s chorus at the Two Rivers Correctional Institute in Umatilla, Oregon. Kathleen recently completed a Master of Music degree (with distinction) in choral conducting at the University of Washington.
