I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and received a full athletic scholarship to swim and attend school at the University of Arizona. After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education as a wildcat, I taught third graders for eight years at Bidwell Elementary in Antioch, California. While teaching I earned my Masters of Science at California State University at Hayward in education with a focus on children's literature and reading. My family (husband and two daughters, Erin and Faith) moved to Olympia in 1993 and fell in love with the area. My first position in this district was at Tumwater West Education Center (juvy). This is where I decided I connected well with older children and made it my goal to teach high schoolers! I then was hired at Black Hills High School to teach German and English. After a few years I was involuntarily transferred to Tumwater as I had least seniority and two English teachers from THS were retiring. I have been at THS for the past nine years and absolutely love it. We now have a new foster daughter,Tosha. and in my spare time I like to read. I also love to hike with my husband, Eric, and two black Labs, Ruby and Louis.
