• A message from our Principal:

    Welcome East Olympia Elementary Families!

Welcome to the 2013-14 school year! Last year East Olympia was recognized for multiple accomplishments regarding academic achievement.  We were recognized as a “School of Distinction” by our local educational service district, a “Title 1 Part A Academic Progress and Academic Performance” school by the Office of the Superintendant of Public Instruction, “Washington Academic Achievement for Overall Excellence and High Progress” by OSPI, and a recipient of the “Academic Achievement Award” from Title 1 and OSPI with a monetary prize of $10,000.

Over the summer I received two emails from the state informing me that East Olympia was selected to receive the state’s 2013 Title 1, Part A Award.  We will receive $10,755 to be used to support our school’s continuing efforts to increase student academic success.  The funds are provided through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Title 1, Part A and may be used for any purpose that is allowable under the ESEA program.  This past week I received another email with an additional award in the amount of $1,710 to continue to advance the work we are doing to increase student academic success.

East Olympia is on the right track.  We are being successful in large part to the time we are able to spend on the Fridays with early release.  During this time we can review our data from student assessments and make sure we have students placed appropriately and they are getting the specific instruction they need.  None of that would be possible without the continued support of our families and communities.  We thank you for that time and pledge to continue to make the best use of that time to meet the needs of your children.

We look forward to a productive year of continued success with our students and we hope to see all of you at our Open House on September 3rd  from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Kilmer, Principal
