• Tumwater High School Counseling Center Announcements ~

Exciting news!  We would like to welcome our newest Counselor, Mrs. Hannah Middlebrook.  Mrs. Middlebrook comes to us from Yelm High School.  Be sure to give her a hearty T-Bird Welcome!

Mrs. Bush will be on leave in the fall, returning November 1, 2022.  Mr. Dean Mings has returned as Mrs. Bush's substitute until her return.

We have also updated our alphabet cuts to better support our students.  (Please note the changes below.)  Students will now be assigned to the Counselor below based on their last names.  All Running Start and 504 Plans will be managed by the Counselor assigned to their student alpha cut.

The Tumwater High School counselors work with students to help them develop strategies for success in academics, in social skills, and in considering their post-high school plans and career options.  Counselors challenge students to become aware of their individual strengths, to develop methods for dealing with difficulties, to set goals, to make good choices, and to consider consequences.

Counselors meet with their students to explain the credit system, help students select courses, monitor progress toward achieving graduation requirements, explore interests, and make plans for college applications and career options.  Counselors also help students deal with social and emotional issues.
