    Meet The Counselor

Hi Tumwater students and families!  I am excited to serve you through TVA and this exciting journey!  I am a newer school counselor but my wide variety of experience in the U.S. Air Force, Olympia Police Department, Yelm Middle School, at my church working in the office while I got my master’s degree, and last year at North Thurston High School, give me a great foundation to helps students in K-12.  I have two boys in the district, Perry and Will, at Bush and Tumwater High School.  We have two smooth collies, we love to travel, and love to ski, bike, work on home projects, and live life to the fullest.  I look forward to a great year with you all where we can connect (remotely and then in-person) and have a great year!

I am originally from Pennsylvania and grew up around all things related to Pittsburgh Steelers.  I have been here in the Northwest for 25 years, so I do also call this area home and now also love the Seattle Sounders FC.  I graduated from West Virginia University in 1993 with a degree in Journalism/Psychology.  I was in Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) during my college years and was active duty after I graduated from college.  I served in Turkey and here at McChord Air Force Base.  After my active and reserve duty in the military, I worked at Olympia Police Department, Yelm Middle School, and at our church, while obtaining my next degree.  I obtained my Master in Education degree and School Counseling certification from Saint Martin’s University. Before coming to Tumwater School District, I worked as a Counselor at North Thurston High School.

I am very passionate about working with students and getting to know their “stories” and hearing what makes them happy and what goals and dreams they have.  I believe that my personal and professional experiences, my academic preparation, my passion for education and serving others, will create a great connection environment to welcome and connect with all students.  I am excited for the opportunity to work with Tumwater Virtual Academy students, staff, and families.

Reach out to me – I work with TVA on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 8am-3:30pm.  Please call or stop by and see me anytime. I cannot wait to meet you.
