Fosbre Academy (Olympia) and Centralia Beauty College are more than beauty schools; they are businesses dedicated to teaching the techniques of cosmetology while building community relationships that allow students to reach their highest potential through hands-on experience. Students are instructed on current styles, trends, and creative techniques in the art of beauty and industry preparedness.
Cosmetology sessions run Tuesday through Saturday, with Saturday attendance mandatory. Centralia hours are 8:30am-5:00pm. Fosbre hours are Tuesday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm & Saturdays 8:30am-4:30pm.
Please note: This is a 15 to 18 month commitment. Students will commit to instruction fall thru summer and must have a 2018-19 New Market application signed by their high school counselor.
It is strongly encouraged that students are at least 17 years of age and be a Junior or Senior. Training provides 1640 hours necessary to take the state board exam for certification (a $250 fee).
These are off-site community based programs requiring student's own transportation (no school bus transport). Fosbre program fee is $100. Centralia program fee is $150.
What you can expect upon course completion:
- Possible college credits available through the Tech Prep program
- 1640 hours for Washington State certification
- Knowledge of cutting edge beauty techniques
Centralia Beauty College and New Market Skills Center work together to offer the Cosmetology program to high school students in the Thurston and Lewis county areas. Students interested in the program can make arrangements through their school counselor to enroll in the program and begin classes at the Beauty School.
