A.G. West Black Hills High School opened in the fall of 1997. It is located at 7741 Littlerock Road, is situated on 41 acres, and includes an 188,000 square foot building with parking and athletic fields to support high school and community programs. In addition to well-planned classrooms and labs, the school features an excellent performing arts auditorium which serves as host to many school and community programs and events. The building is designed to provide flexibility for educational programs in an inviting atmosphere, while maintaining the ability to meet the needs of students well into the future. Approximately 900 students are enrolled at BHHS.
Black Hills is a comprehensive high school which continues to establish an excellent tradition of academic programs and a broad range of activities to meet the needs of our student population. Our programs provide a full continuum of course work from fundamental skill development to Advanced Placement (AP), Honors, and college prep course work. Our technology is state-of-the-art and is used to support the educational program. Technology includes fiber optics and internet access to each classroom, local and wide-area networks, District and regional library systems, and specialized labs in several program areas.
BHHS offers many co-curricular athletic and activity programs. There are over 30 different clubs, activities, or athletic programs in which students may choose to become involved. Approximately 75 percent of students take advantage of at least one of these programs during the school year.
