Professional Biography
Kathleen Alviar is a graduate (Magna Cum Laude) of Eastern Washington University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education in 1996. She has taught for twenty three years, and is currently the director of choral music at Black Hills High School and Tumwater Middle School. She previously served as the Tumwater School District Music Coordinator from 2009 to 2012. Prior to teaching in Tumwater, Kathleen was the director of choral music at Hermiston High School, in Hermiston, OR. Additionally, she directed the adult and children’s choirs at Lincoln Heights United Church of Christ in Spokane, First Christian Church in Olympia, and a men’s chorus at the Two Rivers Correctional Institute in Umatilla, Oregon. Kathleen received her Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting (With Distinction) in 2011 from the University of Washington.
