LINCS Program

Learning Independence by Networking Community and School

What is the LINCs program?

The Learning Independence by Networking, Community and School (LINCs) program is a small special education setting designed for students aged 18-22.  This program provides students with the opportunity to continue their education in a transition setting, helping them be as independent as possible in accessing the community for work, leisure, transportation and resource services.

The focus of LINCS is on increasing post secondary outcomes for students with IEPs who need support beyond the traditional high school program.  We work on COMMUNITY-BASED INSTRUCTION including:

  • Employment Skills
  • Social Skills
  • Independent Living Skills
  • Recreational Skills
  • Transportation Skills
  • Advocacy Skills

LINCs Entry Guidance

Planning to participate in the LINCs program should begin several years prior to the student’s senior year of high school. LINCS is designed to support students with significantly low adaptive and vocational needs who have not yet graduated.

Please contact your student's special education case manager if you would like to know more about the LINCS program or consider if it might be appropriate for your student.
