Forest Management
DATES: June 16 – July 24
SCHEDULE: 8:00a – 3:30p
Week 1: June 16 – 24 (no class June 19)
Week 2: June 23 – 27
Week 3: June 30 – July 3 (July 3 is ½ day 8-11am. No class Friday July 4)
Week 4: July 7 – 10 (no class Friday)
Week 5: July 14 – 17 (no class Friday)
Week 6: July 21 – 24 (no class Friday. July 24 is last day of class)

This will be the third year of this program in partnership with Pacific Education Institute (PEI) which provides curriculum support and funding for some staffing and student completion stipends. Students will attend 180 hours of classroom and field learning, centered on hands-on learning about forest and stream restoration and ecologies, and complete a formal culminative project presentation to earn 1.0 CTE credits with a science equivalency (through New Market Skills Center) and a completion stipend of $600!
Water Resource Management

TumwaterWorks
DATES: June 16 – July 24
SCHEDULE: Class Time: 8:00am – 11:00am
40 Hour Internship: Variable, to be scheduled throughout the six week class. Schedules will be set with your teacher and the employer.

Internship Location: Boys and Girls Club of Thurston County – 600 Israel Road SW, Tumwater WA 98501 (Boys & Girls Clubs shares a parking lot with THS. Students can walk from class to their internship)

The TumwaterWorks Pilot Program aims to provide students with both classroom instruction and real-world experience, preparing them for their future careers. Students will take a 90-hour course where they will develop life skills, personal finance skills, career exploration, and earn a 0.5 CTE credit towards graduation (through New Market Skills Center). Concurrently, students will participate in a paid work experience for 40 hours with a community partner. This program is designed to provide students with their first paid work experience through community service in preparation for future work experiences. Students will earn a completion stipend, offered by the Tumwater Chamber Foundation.
