Replacement EP&O Levy Election February 13, 2024
Thank you for your interest in learning more about the upcoming Replacement Educational Programs & Operations Levy.
On November 9, 2023, the Tumwater School Board of Directors passed a resolution that will place this measure on the February 13, 2024 ballot:
- Four-year Replacement EP&O for educational programs and operations. This would allow the district to collect up to $109M in funding over four years (2024-2028). The estimated tax impact of $2.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value would replace the existing approximately $2.50/$1,000 that is currently being collected for the existing EP&O Levy that was previously approved by voters. This is not a new tax.
Levies help the District pay for educational programs and operations that are not fully funded by the State.
This Replacement EP&O Levy will provide funding for things such as:
- Staffing (for example: the state provides funds for us to employ 270 teachers, we employ 342; the state provides funds for us to employ 11 paraprofessionals (general ed), we employ over 100 for general and special education services)
- School Health and Safety
- Special Education
- STEM Programs
- Enrichment, Activities and Athletics
