Conference Week - March 29-April 2
During conference week half days, I will do my best to see students during their scheduled speech/language time before dismissal at 12:15. Due to the shortened days and the changes in recess/lunch schedules, I may not be able to see all students.
Students participating in speech/language teletherapy: I plan to be available for their scheduled session, unless I have a conflict with a conference I need to attend. I will be in contact with these families to coordinate.

Hybrid instruction starts for kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade on Monday, February 1st! Speech sessions may not happen next week as students get settled into their hybrid routine, and as I work on updating my schedule.
Please look for an email from me this weekend regarding what speech/language services will look like once hybrid instruction starts next week.
In a nutshell, some students will continue with teletherapy, others will receive their speech/language services while at school, with some students receiving a combination of both. These decisions will be made in collaboration with parents to best meet the needs of students.
December 21-January 2: WINTER BREAK
I hope everyone has a wonderful winter break! Speech/language sessions will resume the week of January 4-8.
Remember to keep practicing your speech/language skills over the break! Keep track of your practice on the homework tracking sheet and notify me when you have finished 1 hour's worth of practice, and I will send you something in the mail! Two students have already completed theirs...way to go!
Wednesday, November 11, 2020: VETERAN'S DAY
There is no school on Wednesday, November 11th. There will be no speech/language sessions on that day.
Monday, November 2, 2020: CONFERENCE WEEK
I am planning on seeing students at their regular teletherapy time during conference week. If there are any conflicts with conferences or other meetings, we can work those out on a case-by-case basis.

Most students have been scheduled for their speech teletherapy day & time, with sessions starting this week and next week. If you have not received an email with your student's tentative teletherapy schedule, please contact me ASAP so we can move forward.
During the fall semester, I will have a graduate student working with me on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Some of you might recognize Mr. Will, because he also helped at THE during the 2018-19 school year. We are both looking forward to helping your student grow their speech/language skills this year!

An email was sent to families of most of my speech/language students today. A copy of the email is below:
"I know things are busy with the start of the school year, but I wanted to give you some information about speech/language services right away.
I will be providing services via teletherapy (on Zoom) and individualized practice activities while the district is in remote learning mode.
Usually I schedule your student’s speech therapy time with their teacher, but this year I will be relying on you to help me get my schedule set. So, thank you in advance! I know you are dealing with a lot right now, and I appreciate your attention in this matter.
PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK TO FILL OUT A SURVEY REGARDING WHEN YOUR STUDENT IS AVAILABLE FOR SPEECH THERAPY, CONTACT PREFERENCES, ETC. If you have trouble with the survey link, let me know and I will send the information another way. Please respond as soon as possible so I can start planning my schedule.

I will use the information you give me along with your student’s grade-level schedule to set up weekly teletherapy appointments.
Please let me know if you have any questions at any time! I look forward to hearing from you and working with you and your student this year!"

Tomorrow is the official first day of school and I'm excited to be back in my newly renovated office space at THE!
Teachers have been given information about speech students in their class. If you have any questions about speech during your Strong Start conference, please bring it up to your student's teacher. They know to give me a call if needed. You can also always contact me directly by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone (709-7300/THE main line).
I will be providing services via teletherapy while the district is in remote learning mode. I will be sending an email in a couple of days to ask for your help with scheduling your student's speech therapy time. Stay tuned for that information!
I'm looking forward to working with you and your student this year!

I will be using this space to provide updates on the speech/language process for the 2020-21 school year.
For example: when I plan to start contacting families to set up therapy times, when therapy is scheduled to begin, etc.
Please contact me at email@example.com for any questions!
