    Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) Developmental Preschool:

    The Tumwater School District (TSD), Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) or developmental preschool, is located on the New Market Skills Center campus. Our preschool is for students with special education needs (who need to be assessed, or have an active IEP) with a few spots reserved for typically-developing children (called Peer Model).     Our preschool program is Monday through Thursday. No preschool on Fridays.

    Morning Session: 8:30-11:15 am

    Afternoon Session: 12:15-3:00 pm

    Information about our Peer Model Program:

    The Tumwater School District is excited to offer the Peer Model Program to our typically developing children, who turn 4 by August 31st, to participate in an enriched learning environment.

    Requirements for students:

    • Children who turn 4 by August 31st.
    • We are looking for students with strong language, social/emotional and behavior skills.
    • Students must reside in the Tumwater School District.
    • Students must be toilet trained.
    • Peer Model Enrollment is for one school year.
    • There will be a 1 month grace period to make sure the student is a good fit.

    Requirements for parents are:

    • Parents must insure students attend regularly.
    • Tuition is $160 per month
    • Tuition assistance available when qualified for free/reduced lunch.
    • Parents must provide transportation for students.

    Peer Model Process:

    In order to be considered for our Peer Model Program, children must participate in a Developmental Screening. We have multiple screenings throughout the school year. Please visit our Childfind page for additional information about our screenings.

    Q: What happens if I am only concerned about my child's communication skills (SLP) or motor coordination (OT/PT)?

    Q: Is the Sound to Harbor Head Start/ECEAP Program separate from the Tumwater School District Preschool?
