    Dear Parents and Guardians of Tumwater Middle School Students:

    We at the Tumwater Middle School (TMS) are excited to announce, starting the week of October 8, 2018, that TMS will be launching our new before and after-school programs. All of TMS before and after-school programs are led by teachers, community members, and professional organizations. This semester TMS will be offering HOLA! Spanish Language Program, Alpha Pack Leadership Club, Technology Science Association (TSA), TSA Micro Clubs, Girl TalkAdditionally, TMS and the Y (YMCA) are continuing our partnership and now offering a 6th Grade Sports program during September-October (see information below).

    TMS programs are voluntary and behavioral expectations will align with the guidelines established by the Tumwater School District and Tumwater Middle School; students pay a fee* to participate in the Y TMS sports program where Y policies and school rules apply. All students are required to fully participate in the programs they are enrolled in and maintain an 80% attendance rate or higher. Students can be removed from the program because of lack of attendance or behavioral issues. Snacks, tutoring, and mentoring will also be included in all of our TMS programs; the Y will not be providing snacks for their program but will offer Homework Help and other support for students.

    An activity bus is only available to students that require transportation assistance and are participating in academic programs (6th Y Sports program not included) on Tuesdays & Thursdays. All students riding the activity bus will need to be approval by Assistant Principal & Athletic Director, Nick Reykdal. There will be no activity bus offered for the Wednesday & Friday athletic events.

    * = financial assistance available

    Activity Bus

    At 4:30 pm, an after-school activity bus will pick your student up at TMS and drop them off at their normal bus stop location. If students reside within the walk zone, they will need to walk home. If you are interested in your child joining these clubs and will need a bus ride, please indicate on the registration form (on reverse side) and have your child return it to the TMS front office.

    We look forward to working with you and your students. More information and registration forms can be found below. Flyers and registration forms can also be found at the TMS front office and Counseling department.
