• TMS Afterschool Programs for 6th, 7th and 8th Grades


    Dear Parents and Guardians of Tumwater Middle School Students:

    Starting on February 13, 2018, Tumwater Middle School will be offering three new after-school programs, and we will be providing an activity bus (see below) to those students and families that need transportation after the programs end. Please review the programs below and submit your registration form to the TMS Office.

    Activity Bus

    At 4:30 pm, an after-school activity bus will pick your student up at TMS and drop them off at their normal bus stop location.  If you are interested in your child joining these clubs, please sign this form (on reverse side) and have your child return it to the TMS front office.


    Technology Student Association (TSA)                      Tuesdays 2:30-3:30pm

    The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national, non-profit organization of middle and high school students who are engaged in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The TSA program will provide the students of TMS with more opportunities to learn and innovate with technology in school. This program will have the opportunity to work with a variety of technologies from computer coding, robotics, to video production.

    Girl Talk                                                                                Tuesdays 2:30-3:30pm 

    We are starting a Girl Talk group at TMS, that will be led by TMS Counselor Justine Herbert. Girl Talk is a national program with the simple premise of high school girls mentoring middle school girls to help deal with the triumphs and trials of the early teenage years. The Girl talk group will meet after school every Tuesday from 2:30-3:30pm.

    Culture Explorer                                                                 Tuesdays 3:30-4:30pm

    TMS will also be partnering with EF International Language School, and launching the Culture Explorer Club. The Culture Explorer Club will include art, music, languages, food, and presenters from around the world. This program will meet every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30 pm.

    South Sound YMCA Afterschool Program

    This new and innovative after-school program, sponsored by the South Sound YMCA, Tumwater Middle School, and TOGETHER!, will focus on developing strong teens. Students will have opportunities to belong, achieve, and build relationships in a safe environment. 

    Participants will get snacks, homework help, engage in after-school enrichment activities, and be active through sports.  

    When:  Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:30 – 4:30 pm, first session runs January 9-March 23

    Where:  Tumwater Middle School. School bus transportation may be available for students in need.

    Cost: $50 per session, financial assistance is available through the YMCA.
