January 21, 2016
ATTENDANCE: Linda O’Shaughnessy, Heather York, Justine Schmidt, and Tara Clemmens
CALL TO ORDER: Heather York called the meeting to order at 6:35pm.
WELCOME: Introduction of officers included: Heather York – President and Justine Schmidt – Vice President. A motion was made and passed to elect Tara Clemmens to the Secretary position for this school year.
PRINICIPAL’S REPORT: Linda O’Shaughnessy participated in the first sign waving session to support the district levy earlier that evening. There will be another opportunity next Tuesday, January 26th. The end of the semester is January 29th and report cards will be sent out.
TYP Concessions Update – Heather York reported that the last TYP Middle School Night at BMS took place on December 11th. She noted that the middle school nights are not as well attended as the elementary nights. The group discussed the possibility of purchasing other products than candy for the middle school nights, such as “light up” or “glow in the dark” items. BMS will be hosting two TYP events in February. February 5th is a middle school night themed “Super Bowl Party” and February 26th is a grade school night themed “Calling All Superheroes”. Heather is looking for a volunteer to help her with the concession shopping and someone to help with the set-up and sales for these two events. Heather also noted that purchasing smaller drink items such as: Izzy’s soda or Gatorade, are better choices for these events.
Homework Club Update – The snacks that have been provided in the past by the York Family will be ending soon. The teachers will be putting together a list of snack needs and will submit a formal request to the board. Justine Schmidt reported that she has not heard from the Nisqually Tribe about the bus grant request. She left another message inquiring about the grant today. Another option is to share the high school activities bus. Heather York will contact the high school to find out who is in charge of the activities bus.
Bush Blend Coffee Fundraiser – Heather York reported that the Bush Blend Coffee Fundraiser brought in $1,284. Heather provided a spreadsheet noting student totals and the amount brought in. The top ten sellers will receive prizes. The prize expenses and coffee invoice have not been paid at this time.
Volunteer Opportunities – Heather York reviewed the upcoming volunteer opportunities:

The forms will require invoice or receipt attachments to receive approved funds. A cash receipt voucher form will also be needed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The next PIE meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 18th at 6:00pm in the Library.
