Degrees and Certifications:
Born and raised in south Seattle, Washington, Nancy grew up in a large city, but family outings often involved camping in the Cascade Mountains or at their cabin near the Hood Canal. This variety of childhood experiences provided Nancy with many opportunities to experience science first-hand and they fostered a lifelong interest in science.
Upon Graduating from high school in 1978, Nancy pursued Applied Science Degrees in Marine Biology, Oceanography, and Marine Science from Shoreline Community College (SCC). In 2008, Nancy decided to pursue her Bachelors Degree and attain her Elementary Interdisciplinary Education Degree through Western Governor’s University. She graduated in the spring of 2011. She worked as a substitute teacher in Thurston County the following year. During that year Nancy was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. She is very thankful for each new day.
In the fall of 2012 Nancy was hired as a Fourth Grade teacher at Tumwater Hill Elementary. She has enjoyed the strong feeling of community and support at THE, both from staff and student families!
