Personal Biography I am the 5th generation of a Tumwater family that homesteaded near Black Lake in the late 1880s. I attended Michael T Simmons Elementary, Tumwater Middle School and Tumwater High School. After getting my AA degree I worked in the retail business until I went back to college to become a teacher. I now live in the house I grew up in on (old) Tumwater hill. I love dogs and have a 14 year old Pitbull mix named Maisie and a 6 year old Golden Retriever named Duke. I enjoy spending time outdoors gardening, camping and hiking. I love spending time with my large, fun family!!
Professional Biography I received a Master in Teaching degree in Multicultural Education from The Evergreen State College in 2000. Prior to coming to Peter G. Schmidt Elementary I taught at Hood Canal Elementary on the Skokomish Reservation. I was excited to "come home" and join the Tumwater School District family. I've worked at Peter G Schmidt for 18 amazing years! My first position was as the Writing Specialist, then I taught 3rd grade and now I am the Reading Interventionist. One of my greatest pleasures is helping students believe in themselves and grow as readers. I look forward to an amazing year teaming with students, their classroom teachers and their families.
