  • CONGRATULATIONS LEO MARTY FOR RECIEVING THE GOLDEN HELMET AWARD FROM THE WASHINGTON FOOTBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION

Leo Marty, Para Pro and much loved athletic trainer at THS, received the Washington Football Coaches Association Golden Helmet Award for his never ending service to Tumwater High School “Winning” Football. Pictured with Leo is his wife Sharon, who is a Para Pro at Black Lake Elementary. Leo came to THS in January 2004 and has been going strong ever since. Leo is invaluable to the students and student-athletes with his calm, caring and loving demeanor. He is very knowledgeable as a trainer, having been with the California Bears, Washington Huskies and Portland Trailblazers and in the past 7 seasons with the Tumwater T-Birds. From a personal article written by Gail Wood in our community’s local information source, ThurstonTalk.com, Leo stated, “I do this because it keeps me young and because I love doing it…I believe we’re on this earth to be servants in some capacity…I think being a trainer for high school is more satisfying than college or pros, because kids appreciate what you do. It’s not a business. I love it.”
