Mrs. Taheri, the music teacher, is asking those who buy the large quantity containers of chewing gum (Trident, Dentyne, etc.) to please save the plastic container and send them to school with your student. We will use them for making homemade maracas and shakers. Thank you!
Bring Used & New Children’s Books To Michael T. Simmons Elementary School. The Mariner Moose will visit the school that collects the most books. There will be an ice cream social for the school that collects the most books per student. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and Disability History Month. NDEAM was first established in 1945 by Congress, but called "National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week. In 1988 it became known as National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and was extended from the first week of October to the whole month. This year’s theme for Disability Awareness month is “My Disability Is One Part of Who I Am.”
We would like to welcome the families of students in our Title I and LAP programs to an Open House. Our Title/LAP staff will be there to give you more information on the programs, answer questions that you have, and give you some time to see your child’s Title/LAP classroom.
On October 20th from 6:30pm-8pm at the District Office (Board Room), the District is hosting a forum for local non-profit organizations that provide activities and events for Tumwater students. There will be a couple of speakers to provide non-profit training. The district will also share information about its flyer process.
