Our School
Tumwater Middle School is located at 6335 Littlerock Road. The almost 80,000 square foot facility serves nearly 450 students in grades 7 and 8 with an administration/lunchroom/gymnasium building and two classroom buildings which house 26 classrooms. In the fall of 2007, modernization of our main building was completed with State matching funds. The front office provides an efficient area to serve students, parents, and visitors. A new Wellness Center was also created. In addition, musicians are enjoying the Music Learning Center, complete with practice rooms, office area, and a separate instrument storage room. The stage area was converted into a new orchestra/P.E. instruction area. The building was finished with new heating, lighting, and technology systems.
Students participate in six classes each day with an emphasis on core skill development: language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and physical education/health classes. In addition, students choose from a variety of fine arts and exploratory classes including: band, choir, orchestra, art, keyboarding, math enrichment, leadership, effective teens, Six-Trait Writing, Civil War, science inquiry, and more. Students can receive academic support in reading, study skills, learning improvement, language arts and mathematics. More than half of our student body participates in our music programs and over 300 students take part in our after-school sports programs.
