Our School
Peter G. Schmidt Elementary, located on 18 acres at 225 Dennis St. SE, was constructed in 1957. Additions, remodeling, and renovations were done in 1963, 1978, 1990, 1996 and 2006. The current facility is 46,707 square feet. It houses preschool through sixth grade and has the capacity of 632 students with portable classrooms.
The staff at Peter G. Schmidt holds the fundamental belief that all children can learn given a safe emotional and physical environment. The staff is committed to working collaboratively with parents and the community to create a nurturing yet challenging atmosphere in which students work towards mastery of the Power Standards in all core subjects.
Our educational programs are designed to meet students at their current academic abilities and help them continually succeed. In addition to teaching the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics, we work to instill the values of good citizenship, honesty, respect, and hard work. Students are taught to be participating citizens who have the ability to influence their environment.
